Pearl powder is a traditional Chinese medication, crushed form of salt-water pearl, known beneficial
for improving skin condition, anti-inflammatory and detoxification agent. The objective of the design
is to re-connect to the newer generation to understand and trust the traditional Chinese medication.
From the start, we wanted to be influenced by the “Chinese traditional medicine” look and feel while
giving a twist of contemporary design in the same time. We started working with the “ink-like” illustration
trying to depict the elegance of pearl with the influenced of Chinese ink painting. The structure of the
packaging were kept humble, natural and genuine, intentionally staying away from the normally
luxurious packaging. The packaging were hand-folded, paper-wrapping style and no glue.
